Has your dog ever done this?

Every now and again, my dog will go up to the fireplace. Press his nose against the gl screen, and then loudly sniffs. Sometimes he leaves after that and other times (like a second ago) he just stands there. I want to know if anyone else has a dog that does this or maybe if you know why they do this. I'm just wondering.
