Is the world about to end?

I read in a newspaper that in 2012 high level cataclysmic events are going to occur.. Water is being depleted... Ozone is opening up?? Is the government really doing something about this? Are they preparing evac's to space? Are they coming up with new solutions? not just electronic cars...
