Does anyone familiar with Japanese have any suggestions for baby names that will sound ok in English too?

It's so great that you are putting a lot of thought to this. My wife (from Japan) and I had twin daughters 9 months ago and we named them Kyori and Kayo. We love the names but people pronounce them "Kay-o and Kai-ori. Drives us nuts. Sorry not an answer to your question just wanted to say that.
